High School Musical connection

I happened to tape the premiere episode of this series, piggybacked onto the end of some of our family vacation videos.

I recently found the recording of this show again, and I took note of the pilot episode's director -- Kenny Ortega, who would later go on to direct the now unbelievably popular High School Musical.

The pilot is worth watching, if only for the energetic opening musical number.

Hull High is definitely the predessor to HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL. No mistake that Kenny Ortega was part of this show....back in 1990...and the idea resurfaced in the very successful HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL. He was definitely ahead of his time.

Also Disney distributed both Hull High and High School Musical. Hull High was distributed by Disney's sister company, Touchstone.

Great news for "Hull" fans!

YouTube has posted a few clips:

The above is the intro to the pilot. My favorite of the bunch! There are subtitles in some other language below, but I'm not sure what it is. Enjoy!

Oh wow! I totally see that! They`re very much alike. I`m glad High School Musical is getting the praise it deserves. I wish Hull High did. They should re air Hull High now that High School Musical is doing so well. I think Hull High would do great now. Kenny Ortega and the other writers and producers were WAY ahead of their time.
