How quickly a person goes from charming to detestable

Watching the series today and I found the first series so interesting with F.U. being charming, yet sly. I knew how ambitious and sly he was, but he quickly became vile and horrid. Of course, part of it was the murder of Mattie, but that was not really in my head.

He just lost his appeal because he seemed so hateful this time around - even the wry smile was gone and you almost had to look out for horns.

By the end of the 1st episode of the second season, I knew I would have to bear a couple more episodes of him 'winning', but I'm so looking forward to his merciless demise.
