As far as strictly political thrillers, the only thing I can think of is Borgen http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1526318/reference, from Denmark, if you don't mind subtitles.

There are some crime and epsionage thrillers, with some of the same feel.

The Shadow Line http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1701920/reference, a UK miniseries about police corruption, etc., is very good.

The Game http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3159736/reference, a British spy thriller, was also enjoyable.

The Hour http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1778108/reference, about a British news program [obviously touching on political matters] was also quite enjoyable.

Forbrydelsen http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0826760/reference, another Scandinavian show, is a murder drama, but the case becomes inextricably entangled with the mayoral campaign in Copenhagen, giving a good glimpse of Danish political maneuvering. Of course, another one with subtitles, but well worth it.
