Best show i've watched this year

i have the blu ray and season 1 and 2 are excellent so far

i commented a while ago how i liked the US version better

i can now say after watching two seasons of this show i love it much more

reply

Yes, the US version is quite good--better than most tv, altho I fear they will drag it out too long.

However, the original is superior, and Richardson's performance is incredible. I'm happy that I was able to see it.

reply

Richardson's performance is what makes it special. he couple have easily played Tywin Lannister in GoT if he was younger or a Bond villain

LOL you should say that, because he was always at the top of my 'wish list' of actors to play Bond villains. He'd have been fantastic.

reply

Yes, now that you mention it, he would have been great. Another one who would be an impressive Bond villain is Charles Dance.

reply

Jonathan Pryce actually was one of course--and I liked him a great deal, even though I thought it was one of the weaker films in the series. Dance would be terrific. I could just picture Ian Richardson in something of an expansion of his role as Urquhart, a British politician intent on triggering some sort of nuclear showdown or suchlike. I'm given to understand that he was a very nice man IRL, but he surely did play evil with a marvelous relish!

My god, you're right--I forgot all about that one. All the more shame he didn't graduate to being the lead baddie.

reply

that would be cool if he played a British politician like Urquhart. i'm on "To Play the King" now and he's even getting better lol

reply

He's awesome all the way through. I remember the first time I watched this, I was just hooked from his very first opening lines. Richardson's one of those actors who could hold you mesmerized reading a page of the Help Wanted ads--it's like he's incapable of giving a poor performance even if he tried.

He's also great in The Final Cut, which I think is the weakest of the three, but he's never less than perfection even with a less-than-sterling script.

reply

i had to take a break because i really don't want the trilogy to end so i'll watch The Final Cut in about 3 weeks

believe me i had the blu ray ready to go, then stopped it because these shows are so good i want them to last

reply

I've passed this show on to several friends who only know the US version, and there's not one of them who hasn't fallen in love with it; most of them now think it's the better of the two.

reply

i think its better

I always love seeing someone else become a fan of this.
