The logic of this TV Mini serie

I have 2 questions related to this (I have read the book and these logical short comings do not exist in the book).

1) The spy Stig Sandström was on temporary leave from the prison. He was only away for 24 hrs and the first episode starts with him leaving the prison and then coming home. The episode ends with him escaping. This entire episode must therefor take place during a 24 hrs period. This is not logical concerning all the other events in the episode.

2) Why was Hamilton trying so hard to find the residence of Sandström in Moscow. He orchestred quite an advanced plot involving the pianist Irina in order to locate an area where a particular picture was taken. Why did he not just ask the photographer? After all he did just walk into the militart headquarter and gave them the picture. Why did they not as where it was taken?
