3 weird friends

Hello,
I'm trying to find out which movie or TV show that the following "weirdness" comes from.
Here it is: In the late 80s or 90s I saw (before the internet) a movie or TV show that had a teenager or college kid as the main character, just like Ferris Bueller. Here's the weird part: the guy had 3 weird friends or room mates. One was a jock, one was a nerd/genius, and one was something else, just a weird guy. Each time these 3 characters showed up, first the jock would say something about "my brawn", the nerdy kid would say something about "my brains" and then the other kid would say something about "my brine", and that kid was carrying around a glass container with some kind of brine in it.
So I remember these 3 characters and the one line that each said everytime they showed up in a scene. So does anyone else remember them? Were they in Ferris Bueller? Or some other movie or tv show? I know they weren't in Ferris Bueller's Day Off (the movie). This really has me stumped.
I thought maybe they were in Parker Lewis Can't Lose of the movie, Real Genius, but fans of that show and movie say no. I'm running out of possibilities.
Can anyone help?
