Cancelled prematurely?

This show was still in the top 30 and was performing well when it was cancelled in 1994. It could have easily ran for 2-3 more seasons. Supposedly there were other reasons for the cancellation. The production costs were very high due to the salaries of the large ensemble cast. Burt Reynolds was going through a high-profile divorce and reportedly wanted off the show. The show was more geared toward an older audience and not the younger demographic that CBS craved. While it's ratings on Monday night were similar to it's competition ("Fresh Prince of Bel Air" and "Blossom"), those shows pulled in younger viewers.

I agree it was!!

Younger viewers didn't seem to be who CBS was going for. Other CBS shows at this same time were Newhart, Designing Women, and Murphy Brown. I can't remember what all aired on Monday nights (hey, it's been 20 years).
