Death, Disaster and Damien

I'm in a hurry, so I'll have to come back and flesh this out later, but: when watching my DVDs of the first season, I realised that I'd completely forgotten about the above episode, which seems to've been quietly dropped from the repeat showings.

I can understand why it's been cut - but is it just me who finds it strangely nostalgic to look back at a time when we could laugh at something like that execution scene as far-fetched?

they DROPPED it??? but that's my favourite series 1 episode! noooooooooooooo!

and I think it's ridiculous that we can't laugh at the execution. i can and do. it happens and the best thing to do is make fun of it and otherwise how can we cope?

The only channel showing the series in the UK is Paramount Comedy, and I don't recall them ever showing that episode.

Is that the scene with the firing squad leader giving a grin to camera and screwing up Damien's footage? They have shown it on Paramount - I taped it off Paramount but it was a few years back. Whether they have chickened out on their current run, I have no idea, but I would not be surprised.

They do show that episode, but one episode I've never seen repeated is the one where they kick Sally's dog around the office (I think? I haven't seen it for ages) from series 1 or 2, Henry then kills it by throwing a computer down on it. I remember Biteback having a field day at this episode back in 1992 or so. I think that's why there were no details on IMDb for this episode until fairly recently (ie, when the DVD first came out)

"What does it hunt, woodlice?"

Complete with pathetic whimper of crushed dog at the end of the episode. They showed that on Paramount too - perhaps Paramount treat such viewers complaints exactly as they deserve, and laugh as they drift down to the wastepaper bin?... One can only hope.

Buy the DVDs - they seem to be completely uncut. (as far as I know)
