Was this inspired by 'Satanic Rites of Dracula' or are the simlarties...

....a coincidence?

The Similarities involve Dracula int he modern day with an Alter ego being a Cooperate Business man and leading a Satanic Secret society. And having a descendent of Van Helsing as his nemesis.

I haven't watched any of this show yet, but when I mentioned that I found the premise of Satanic Rites of Dracula an interesting idea to expand on, I was recommended to check out this Series.

P.S. Is there any place I can watch episode online, for Free? Netflix doesn't doesn't have it at the moment.

I suspect this was at least partly inspired by Satanic Rites of Dracula. Both have Dracula running a major corporation with a modern alias, only wearing his cape when about to do battle, and making dramatic bids for world domination.

The version of Dracula in Satanic Rites of Dracula was self-destructive though. Alexander Lucard is not. He's all for self-preservation.

Psst, check youtube. There's a person who seems to have the show up on youtube.

It's a little cheesy and there's quite a bit of comedy but it got better as the show went on... except for his flock of bats transformation. That remained pretty bad.

Cool, Thanks.

The actress playing Sophie was also Isobel on The Vampire Diaries.

Funny how roles come around. The actor playing Van Helsing's son, Klaus (Who doesn't appear for a few more episodes) is Geriant Wyn Davies, the actor who plays Nick on Forever Knight.

I remember you mention that. It seems like few people can settle for one 1 Vampire related role. Even Bela Lugosi played another, in Return of The Vampire.

I think this is the first time I've ever seen a Blond Dracula, it's kinda awkward to get used to.

I've only seen a blonde Dracula three times. First in Dracula the series and second in Dracula 2 and 3, the second and third one in the Dracula 2000 series.

I"m not sure what you mean by Dracula 2 and 3. That dude in the sequel to 2000 I never noticed as being Blond since his hair just simply didn't look natural.

I notice it's one of those shows that sometimes becomes a partial Public Service announcement, the 2nd Episode being about Reading.

It was kind of a kid's show. The target audience was early teens.

This was also the first time I saw a blond Dracula (it is my main memory of this in fact) and it was strange (though not too strange that I couldn't get used to it); my vision of Dracula was informed by the occasional showing on TV of the old Hammer films and my "Hamlyn Book of Horror" thus the main image was Christopher Lee and after that Bela Lugosi and the various drawings that tended to look like Christopher Lee in those days. I did because of that book however, know from a young age, and before I had read the novel, that Dracula was an old man with a mustache as written by Stoker. I still have the 'Hamlyn Book of Horror', its regarded by me and others I know as sort of a Necronomicon. It was very iconic for people of a certain age in the UK. But I have gone off at a tengent...
