Theme Park

I was just wondering if anyone else here had been to one of the crystal maze theme parks (I'm not sure if that's the right name for them, they're sort of replicas of the sets wherein you have to do the challenges whilst being directed around by a digital host on a series of computer screens)
I'm assuming there's more than one of them, as if they were going to make one of these for a show as popular as the crystal maze they would not have stuck it in Pembrokeshire (my home county aka the back of beyond)

I remember hearing about them briefly (advertising at the time) but was under the impression that the site(s) was largely for corporate events rather than a family day out due to the cost involved in hiring it.

Being local, do you have any further information?

EDIT: Found this, which you may find interesting;

Also went to one a few times many, many years ago. I can't for the life of me remember where it was. I'm in the South East so if anyone could help me out and tell me where it was it would be much appreciated.

There was one in Maidenhead (about 20 miles or so west of London). Not sure if it is still there though.

Went to one in blackpool about 9 years ago. Ended up with no crystals, but they gave us 15 seconds in the dome anyway. How nice!

The Maidenhead one closed down at least five years ago. It's a shame. I went there lots of times and never got bored of playing the same games. I really wish they would open another one but I guess they won't now that it's been eleven years since the series ended :o(

Yea, I went to one a number of times in Southampton, it was crap though, all the games were on a computer, no one knew how to work them; including the staff and they were nearly always broken down. It was a good idea, but it didn't work.

Yeah, I went to the one in Blackpool two years running (around twelve years ago). You were given a card and told where to go round the maze, there would be loads of teams running around at the same time but the computer would direct you to a specific free terminal somewhere in the maze. When you found it, your computer host would allocate you a game, usually on the computer screen (i.e. rearrange letters to make a word) but sometimes it would be a proper physical game. I remember one where you had a certain amount of time to climb through a spider's web maze, and touching a strand would take a certain amount of time off the clock. You had to climb through, touch a button at the end of the maze and them climb back out. When you got to the dome (after about eight games) it was basically a dome 2.5m high with buttons everywhere. The first time I went, there were two types of button, crystal and skull. Pressing a crystal one when lit was equivalent to a gold token, and pressing a skull one when lit was equivalent to a silver token. This was rubbish as eventually you learned which ones to press and which not to press. The next year they replaced them with identical flashing lights and pressing a lit one was equivalent to a gold token, and pressing an unlit one was equivalent to a silver token. Apparently there were six; five in England, one in Japan. There is still one running in Pembrokeshire (http://www.cc2000.info/crystal.asp).

Ah, memories! I can't believe there are no episodes on YouTube. But here's the opening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fbUPtU9XOc
