It was written in the early 80's. Burns heard it and decided to make it the Civil War theme.

He's taking the knife out of the Cheese!

And it's beautiful. By far, one of my favorite peices to play.

A beautiful melody--full of melancholy: it reminds me of Mark Knoffler's end theme to "Local Hero" (1983) and the variations of it heard during that movie.
