I can think of no better place to list my favorite documentaries than on the board of this great documentary.

1. Gates Of Heaven- 1978- Errol Morris
2. The Civil War- 1990- Ken Burns
3. Salesman- 1968- Albert & David Maysles
4. Brother's Keeper- 1992- Joe Berlinger & Bruce Sinofsky
5. Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars-1973-D.A. Pennebaker
6. Human Remains- 1998- Jay Rosenblatt
7. The Last Waltz- 1978- Martin Scorsese
8. Benjamin Smoke- 2000- Jem Cohen & Peter Sillen
9. The Thin Blue Line- 1998- Errol Morris
10. Speed Racer: Welcome To The World Of Vic Chesnutt-Jem Cohen & Peter Sillen
11. Dear Jesse- 1998- Tim Kirkman
12. Don't Look Back- 1967- D.A. Pennebaker

Numbers 1-3 are interchangeable. The rest are all great viewing.

I assume we are freely mixing Tv and Movie documentaries....then here are some favorites in no particular order:

The civil war
Baseball
Common Threads:Stories from the quilt
4 Little Girls
Kon Tiki
John F Kennedy:Years of LIghtening Day of Drums
He makes me feel like dancin"
Man on Wire
Civilization
The Weavers:wasnt that a time!
The Last Waltz
DOnt Look Back
Imagine:John Lennon
Ghosts of the Abyss
The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg

There are alot of fine documentaries I have never gotten a chance to see though...

And I have to add that both Triumph of the Will and Olympiad are extraordinary films to look at, even if they are politically reprehensible.

It is not our abilities that show who we truly are...it is our choices

1. Cameraman: The Life and Work of Jack Cardiff
2. Hearts of Darkness
3. The Cutting Edge: The Magic of Movie Editing
4. Indie Game: The Movie
5. These Amazing Shadows
6. Buena Vista Social Club

Of the documentaries I've seen, these are the ones that stand out most to me. A lot of that has to do with personal interest in the subject matters.
