Now excellent picture quality

As originally transmitted the wonderful costumes, locations and interiors as well as excellent cinematography were to a large extent wasted by indifferent quality telecine transfer from film (on which it was shot) to video for transmission. Now ITV3 which is repeating the entire series appears to have re-transferred it this time with excellent picture quality (perhaps with a view to future transmission on High Definition. For the first time viewers can really appreciate the visual aspects of the series which was always one of its joys.
