DVDS?

It's been FOREVER since I've seen this show (I was little when it was on but I can sorta remember it) but I was curious - have they made any DVDs of the episodes yet? And if so, could somebody tell me where?

Thanks a bunch and much appreciated!

reply

I know of two DVDs with the Adventures of the Black Stallion. I have the one, THE ADVENTURES OF THE BLACK STALLION/THE LEGEND OF COUGAR CANYON.
It has twelve episodes on it, all from the second season. The other one, with the title THE ADVENTURES OF THE BLACK STALLION/THE BOY WHO TALKS TO WHALES is something I hope to get in the future. The entire 1st season is available in 4 DVDs from www.DVDplanet.com; it's also available at www.wallmart.com.

I have 2 prerecorded VHS tapes with the Adventures of the Black Stallion on them, and each tape has 4 episodes on it. These are also available on DVD with an extra bonus episode on each. I also have a tape with Trapped and King of the Cowboys on it. Both of those episodes feature the longer theme song.

Just checked back, thanks so much for that! I'll look into that adress.
Thanks again! Much appreciated

I forgot to tell you that I bought the VHS tapes and DVD at WalMart.
There is a big video store I go to (can't remember the name), but I haven't found any BLACK STALLION DVDs on their shelves. I could check if they can order some for me today; if they can, I'll get back to you with the name of the store!

reply

That's cool

I checked into that Good Times website, that wasn't really anything but I did go into eBay so I'll most likely buy it from there or the next time I go to the Wal-Mart I live buy, maybe I'll look in that 5 dollar basket of movies they have - they usually have good stuff.

Thanks again!

The DVD I have from the set that includes Cougar Canyon has 12 episodes of the show. They are 1)The Winningest, 2)White Fang, 3)Bonjour Yourself, 4)In Form, 5)Sunday Special,
6)Good Stock, 7)Reborn, 8)Medicine Man, 9)Incredible Horseflesh, 10)Mount Royale, 11)Prix de Chantilly, and 12)New Information.

The two VHS tapes I have are entitled The Black Stallion and The Return of the Black Stallion. The first one contains the episodes entitled 1)Barn Burner, 2)Diamonds, 3)Chateau Savage, and 4)Killer Stallion. The second has the episodes entitled 1)The Alhambra Zarr, 2)Almost Home, 3)Deadliest Bidder, and 4)Blackout on it.

I'm sure they are available on DVD. You might want to check Amazon.com as well as Ebay.

Also when watching the credits on the tape, I saw the names Sterling Entertainment Group, Seabrook Productions, and Atlantique Productions. The website www.uvaco.com was also mentioned.

Good luck!

I just bought the DVDs of The Black Stallion and The Return of the Black Stallion in the bargain DVD bin ($5.50) at my local Walmart. You might check there.

reply

Finally back after a while but thank you both!

This info has been really helpful and I'll probably keep my eyes out for at it at Wal-Mart or a video store I visit. I haven't been to Wal-Mart lately so I haven't seen anything yet and when I get money, then I'll try Ebay or Amazon.

Much appreciated! Thanks for everything!!

I'm glad to know that DVDs of The Black Stallion and Return of the Black Stallion are available. The DVD I got in a package with The Legend of Cougar Canyon has 12 episodes on it--how many episodes are on the ones you got? I have 3 Walmarts I can get to, and I'll have to check them.
Oh, and the DVD I said I was hoping to get for my birthday (but didn't) had an episode called "The Neuchatel Stallion" on it. As I remember it, that was from the first time they went to France, when "Catherine" and "Pierre" were still in the cast.

At the second WalMart I went to today, I found the DVD entitled The Return of the Black Stallion in the $5.50 bin. There must have been 100 in there, and I'm sure I will go back there to look again. There were 5 episodes on that one; the four that I mentioned were on the VHS tape, plus a bonus one called DETOUR.

reply

I too stumbled delightfully upon the 5 episode dvds of Black Stallion and Return of the Black Stallion at Walmart.

Can you guys tell me if there are episodes on this first dvd that aren't on the Cougar Canyon dvd? Is the Cougar Canyon thing (2nd link) the one with 12 episodes on it? The data says 90 min. which's 3 eps. The links below are the pages on Amazon. They don't list the titles, just the Prix de Chantilly which's mentioned on each dvd.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006RCLW/qid=1145080683/sr=1-7/ref=sr_1_7/104-8432005-3403148?s=dvd&v=glance&n=130

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009NCPDS/qid=1145080461/sr=8-4/ref=sr_1_4/104-8432005-3403148?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=130

A bunch of people who should've known better with the 1990 release date are griping that this isn't the movie like they thought and then proceed to bash it. I happen to think it's really fun and I really liked watching it back in the day--the theme's been in my head for years so it's great to hear it again. Richard Ian Cox is who I imagine as Alec, not that little kid from the Coppola film. The thing is, I had a crush on him back then when I was a lot younger but now I'm way past his age and it feels sorta jailbait-ish, LOL. I had no idea Mickey Rooney'd gotten his lifetime achievement Oscar so long ago and these Walmart dvds have a bio on each of them. Anywho just wanted to gush about these. Read the books, watch the film, watch these shows--it's all a great, pardon the pun, ride.

The Adventures of the Black Stallion dvd that's in the pack with The Legend of Cougar Canyon has 12 episodes on it. I discovered the other six when I went to the bottom of the disc menu and moved the cursor to MORE, then pressed play. The Legend of Cougar Canyon has nothing to do with the Black Stallion -- it's a story about Indian boys who go after a lost lamb, and is narrarated by an actor who did cowboy movies long ago.
I'm hoping to get that first one with Jean-Paul Solal, Virginie Demians and Michele Goodger in it. Are there just 5 episodes on that one?

I just got the Black Stallion VHS tape with the episodes "King of the Cowboys" and "Trapped" on it, and I heard that other, longer opening theme. I wonder why the family channel cut it down when they aired it on TV.

Hello everybody,
It's been a while since you last posted on this board, but I really hope someone can help me!

I live in the Netherlands and I bought 2 sets of dvd's from this serie.
The first one had the episodes on it:
1)where there's a will, 2)vigil 3)first among equals 4)long way home 5)stowaway 6)a friend in need 7)pony express ride 8)the big fix 9)star quality 10)king of the cowboys 11)killer and 12) sweet tooth.

The second set had all of the above episodes on it plus:
13)the last race 14)double cross 15)trapped 16)fireworks 17)the black pearl 18)the long run 19)kidnapped 20)the come back 21)the choice 22)black at heart 23)heart of gold 24)the judge 25)found money and 26) the neuchatel stallion.

And now I really want to now from which season these episodes are, if this is the complete season and how many seasons (and episodes) are there in total? And what are their names???

I really hope you can help me!!!
Thank you!!!
Sophie

Sophie,

How did you find that 2 dvd set. I have been searching everywhere for months and managed to find 3 dvd's but they don't have any of the episodes that you listed. I would love to get that set.

You can find an episode guide at http://epguides.com/AdventuresoftheBlackStallion/

The box set contains 4 DVDs, and includes all 26 episodes of season 1. It's listed as being 617 minutes long. The entire 2nd season will become available on May 8.
I hope this information helps.

Sophie,
Those 26 episodes you mentioned of THE ADVENTURES OF THE BLACK STALLION are the complete 1st season of the show.
I'm hoping to get them from www.dvdplanet.com for Christmas.
When you watch the show, is it in English or French? I know it's available in both languages.

reply

[deleted]

The sale of season 1 will probably effect how soon they'd bring the secound season out

Okay, that makes sense, but can you tell me who was in the cast for the 3rd season? I know Mickey Rooney was there, and the Black and Alec, but did Nicole tag along? What about Black Tide; did they ever find him, after he was kidnapped at the end of the 2nd season? I really wish the Family Channel would have shown the 3rd season!!!

reply

I just got the complete first season as a Christmas present yesterday, and at the beginning of each disc, it says the 2nd and 3rd seasons will be available on DVD soon.

reply

I'm wondering where the episode "Black Tide" is in the scheme of things.
Is it early in the 2nd season, or more toward the middle of that season?
Does Alec ever ride Black Tide, or was Nicole the only one who ever rode him?
I know Henry gives him to Nicole.
Is he ever recovered after he's stolen in the 2nd season?

reply

Yea they found Black Tide... And in the episode he comes back he actually colics.. its Nicholes birthday i believe too and nate makes her Eclaires while she's out wlaking and oiling Tide. There was an episode close to the end of the series where Alec almost drowns at the beach and Black Tide was the "Lassie" finding help LOL or something like that.. so tide stuck around

reply

Thanks for the information about Black Tide... I would have hated it if he had been lost to the kidnappers forever.
I'll look for it when I get the complete 2nd season... or is it in the 3rd?
Whatever, I don't remember Nate.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

reply

Nate was Henry's kinda annoying nephew LOL

The "Coming Soon" on the DVD said Season's 2 and 3... i kinda hope they put them out together.

I got the DVD set for christmas. The show was my FAVORITE show when i was little .. i already watched them all again yesturday haha! I need more! I had them taped but those tapes are missplaced all over this house... some don't even work anymore.

This show helped my horse love grow and grow. I now have an Animal Science Equine Bacholers degree and i am in charge of an 8 horse facility. I was very happy to see this show get on dvd!

reply

I had a horse once, a nice buckskin gelding named Cody. He was supposed to be 1/2 Quarter Horse with his official name Sand's Cody, but I never saw any registration papers.

It must be nice, to be in charge of an 8 horse facility. How long were you in school to get your degree?

reply

I think the 2nd and 3rd seasons are going to be in separate packages, because I just saw some information about how to get the 2nd season.

reply

It was for 4 years. Its something special when your classes consist of Light horse management, Driving, Equine breeding and genetics, Tackless training, Equine health, Animal science... Having labs that are out in the cow barn or in the ring with a horse was just FANTASTIC!

No Papers huh? hmm... you could have contacted the organization. If you had the name they could have tried looking it up for ya!

hey.. have you heard when the possible release for season 2 is?

reply

Your education sounds like one I would have enjoyed. Your job at the stable sounds terrific, too. I think you said you were in charge of 8 horses... any favorites?
Ideally, I would have liked to be a jockey as an adult, but when you're 5'10" in 7th grade, that dream is pretty much lost.
About the registration of my horse, the people at the farm where he was boarded said they heard from the boarders that his official name was "Sand's Cody."
I just remember that he was a very special horse.

reply

OOO i hate saying "Favorites"! Its kind of... bad luck i guess lol. Kind of way i never name my fish cause then they die.

I've had two "Favorites" before over the years.... my baby Danny who was a Clyd. He was put down for many different reasons and Petie who was a Clyd/Hackney cross passed away from a bad case of Colic... with his big head in my lap...

So I never consider anyone my "Favorite" anymore lol However i do have one i'm more.. fond of LOL Her Name is Deb but I call her Mama. We have her son too who i call Satan. yea.. He's evil. But anyways... Mama is a Belgian. She's twenty this year! She's my lil old Gurl. I love her to tears! I love them all but ... she's Ma Gurl... As i say lol

We have all drafts. 1 Shire, 3 Belgians, and 4 Perchrons. My miss having clydesdales though. I miss the feathers!

Yea... i think being a jockey is out of the cards! lol luckily there are other horse careers out there! good luck!

reply

Sound like you had a lot of great horses.
A friend of mine had a Thoroughbred/Belgian cross, but I've never known anyone who owned a Clydesdale.
I will try again to get a look at the pictures you included on your e-mail.

reply

OO you couldn't seem them? I'm sorry. i don't know how to make these into links on this board.. so i just put the link to copy and paste.

reply

My sister-in-law, the computer expert, will be coming down soon, and will show me how to access your pictures, I'm sure.

reply

I'm still unable to access your pictures, but I'm sure I will be able to soon.
I had a longhaired cat named Reno a long time ago. She was a mixture of colors, but predominantly brown.

reply

As I thought I'd be able to, a computer savvy friend and fellow volunteer at the Humane Society showed me how to access your pictures. She brought the pictures up on the office computer and showed me how to do it at home. I saw Jed, Reno, and Shae, among others. Shae's coloring is kinda like a Clydesdale, isn't it?
Thank you for sending those pictures my way!

reply

I got to see all the pictures today, and they're all great. I especially liked Mama--are all Belgians colored like that?

Seeing the horse on his back made me think of my Cody -- he used to love to do that right after I gave him a bath. He was a buckskin.

I forwarded some of your pictures to two pals from high school -- I hope that was okay.

reply

Where did you go to school? I just sent an e-mail to my friend detailing the courses you took to get your Bachelor's degree in Animal Science Equine, and I'm sure she will ask.

reply

Sorry i haven't been around... I went to Suny Cobleskill in NY.

And which ones did you send? of who i mean? lol

Yea belgians are that color. A palamino color really... White mane, tail and forlock... white legs...

A Clyd has white feathers and going all the way up the leg till just about the body, white spashes on the tummy and under the chin. They can be a grey brown or a dark brown color... grey and almost black colors.

The Clyd and the Shire are similar in appearance but the feathers are different and the body and the way its more compact is different.

goodness i sound like a teacher lol

reply

Sorry I haven't replied for so long, but thanks for the information.
My college career consisted of 2 1/2 years in school, studying English.

reply

You might try BestPrices.com --- they seem to have some episodes on DVD there.

reply

The release date for the complete 2nd season of The Adventures of the Black Stallion is May 8th.
You can pre-order it from Amazon, but the cost is 35.99.
I think I'll wait.

reply

There is another DVD of "The Adventures of the Black Stallion" out there.
Like "The Adventures of the Black Stallion/The Legend of Cougar Canyon," it's rumored to have 12 episodes on it. It's called "The Adventures of the Black Stallion/The Boy Who Loves Whales." If anyone can find it on DVD, I'd appreciate finding out how I can get it.

reply

The Complete Second season will be released on DVD May 8th.
It can be pre-ordered at Amazon.com, but the price is $35.77.

reply

WOO HOO! all the more reason to be excited about May! LOL

reply

I will be able to access your horses' pictures soon.
The lady who updates the pictures of the animals at the Humane Society showed me how, but it might not be until next week, because I'm not sure I remember how she said to do it, and she only comes in to work on Thursday.
I'm a volunteer greeter at the shelter for 12 hours a week. Sadly, it's in the city, so we get no horses. Just dogs, cats, ferrets, hamsters, rabbits, and the occasional chickens.

reply

I got her to show me how to access your horses' pictures yesterday, but once I got home, I couldn't do it on my computer. On the computer at the Humane Society, I saw Jed, Reno, and Shae, among others. I thought Shae's coloring resembled a Clydesdale's... Anyway, they're all beautiful horses.

Walmart.com has both Season 1 and Season 2 for $13 each. I don't think you can beat that price.

reply

Thanks for the information! I'll have to get down to Walmart to see if they can order season 2 for me soon.

reply

I ordered both Seasons 1 and 2 from Echo Bridge Entertainment. Their website is echobridgehe.com

Hope that helps. They say season three is coming soon, but no date that I know of yet.

reply

I'll try that; thanks a lot for the information.
My trip to WalMart weeks ago was not successful; I ordered something from their in house computer and then cancelled it, because it was really season 1, and I have that.
They ought to employ more people in the DVD area of my WalMart; the guy who was there was in charge of the whole electronics dept.
I'll try www.echobridge.com now. Thanks again!

reply

My brother and sister-in-law got me the second season for my birthday.
I think the third season takes place in Australia, and even though I might like to see the countryside (I have a pen-pal who lives there) I don't think I'll ask for season 3.
