The best match for Brandon?

Of all the women Brandon had relationship with (even very short term), starting with Marriane Moore: who you think was the best match for him?

I think either Susan or Nikki. Brandon had great chemistry with either, pity both broke up with him.

I thought he broke up with Susan?

Either way, Susan was always my favorite match for Brandon.

Susan was Brandon's best girlfriend

Susan for sure. And he technically broke up with her when she decided to go to DC for the summer. He was pissed (and rightly so) that he gave up his gig in Boston for their summer vacay and she didn't do the same. She asked him to go with her, but he was a big baby and said no.

reply

He wasn't a "big baby". She pretty much demanded that he give up a really good opportunity, then didn't care enough about their relationship to do the same.

She could have "allowed" him to take his job. Maybe she could have gone with him? Then with him taking his job, when her opportunity came, they could have each had their chances.

reply

I don't understand why that vacation was such a big deal. He gave up a great opportunity for a road trip? Considering how responsible they both were I don't get why she could be selfish enough to ask so much of him, but not show him the same consideration. And I'm disappointed in her for that.

That being said: I don't disagree with her that it is very hard for a woman to get ahead in this world and that's why I don't 100% blame her for choosing the job over him. And on the same note I don't understand why Brandon could be so obtuse that he couldn't forgive her.

reply

Boston is not that far from DC. She could've gone with him for the Boston job since she knew she was waiting to hear back about the DC job already. She would've been a lot closer to there and it wouldn't have involved a cross country move at that point! Therefore Susan is an idiot.

reply

Definitely Susan!

I disagree with that. She didn't give him an ultimatum at all. She just asked him to take their relationship into account before making a decision. He even asked her if it was an ultimatum and she said NO, it's not. And he said arrogantly "I hope so".

Then he decides not to take the job and when she thanks him, he points out that :

*he didn't take it because they would have to pay him more once he finishes college
*he doesn't want to take the first offer he gets

So he clearly states that he didn't make the decision because of her (even if, I'm sure, he took into account how important the trip was for her).

So yes, I understand he's disappointed that she does take a job, but he can't blame her, because he didn't take the opportunity he had for his own reasons. Susan does have her own reasons to take the job : it's one time opportunity, president campaign, etc.

But he's way to proud to even try to understand her. The way he yells repeatedly at her, right in her face, very close to her : "Did you take the job, did you take the job, did you take the job????" is inadmissible. She didn't act that way when he had a job opportunity!

He could have gone to Washington with her and look for a job there. He was way too proud for that.

Josh Richland. They had such a tumultuous beginning. When the dean introduces them and Josh says, "We were almost best friends," the sexual tension is off the charts. I wasn't surprised they got together, each challenging the other to be their best. RIP Josh.
