Why do people watch this garbage when there is youtube?

Even more pathetic are the people who actually attend tapings. I can see evfery single one of these lame videos on youtube, only without the stupid commentary and lame puns. This is the kind of show that has a target demographic of 80 year old women who don't know how to use a computer and think that dogs running around in circles are hilarious.

Some might enjoy not having to search for their "funny videos" and just sit down in their couch and watch a readily available compilation.

Why do you care?

I agree. It makes sense to have this show back in the 80s and 90s, but not now! It's worthless now because we have sites such as Youtube. They should have canceled it long time ago. It's not needed anymore.

Not many people watch Youtube on their couch.

That's a stupid comment and you should be ashamed.

That's just your opinion. I prefer watching t.v. to YouTube and enjoy this show. If you don't like it, just don't watch it and leave those of us who do alone. It's needed for those of us who want to watch t.v. instead of having to search for stuff on YouTube. Both have their place.

Oh shut up! If you don't like it, don't watch it! Why can't anyone figure this out?!?!

The videos aired back in 1989 were funny.

Yes, the older ones were the best! I added this to my list of favorite TV shows, because I love the Bob Saget years! The current host, nothing against him, but he doesn't have the same charm is Bob Saget did. Not only that, but I don't even like the current set – it's tacky. Consequently, I don't watch the show anymore.

But I really think there should be reruns called "the Saget years" or "classic AFI" that only showed videos from the 80s and 90s – because that was funny as all get out, with those classic 80s and 90s hairdos, and those jokes.

As for the OP's question, I have to say that while the OP is correct, it makes me hate YouTube and everything from the 21st century! Give me the 1980s and 1990s any day!

Don't get me wrong, the Internet is wonderful – I love how those of us with limited resources, and in various locales and social classes can all watch whatever they want just about, without having to worry about whether they can find it, or afford to buy it. The Internet basically gives them all this for free, thanks to a few generous people who share their video collections. Yes I know there's a dark side to that, copyright issues in all, but focusing on the bright side, there it is. Even I have been able to watch several things that I would've probably never been able to watch, thanks to the Internet.

However, there are several things missing now, namely the family get-togethers. Nobody gathers around the computer screen, eating their dinner and watching YouTube! And if they do, it's a sad sight, not cozy at all, seems cold and rushed. Usually, when people watch videos on YouTube, that is a solitary pursuit, or they invite maybe one friend to sit next to them. But it's not the atmosphere of warmth that we used to have.

People used to gather around the TV together, counting down the minutes till their favorite shows came on, especially America's Funniest Home Videos – and everybody would eat popcorn, drink their sodas, and laughed together, in the comfort of their living rooms. We don't have that, hunched over a desk, watching a computer screen.

I'm sorry, but with all the advantages the Internet has given us, I'd still take the 1980s and 1990s cable TV decades any day!

Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!

Thanks for your comments! I see the pros and cons of both ways of doing things.
