How good is james spader?

I mean seriously people, this has to be one of the best perfomaces I have ever seen.It was a really dicy role with sense of percieved perversion but had to be likable as far as the audiences are concerned.Hats off to james spader,a champion like perfomance.
I know in the past he has got irritated with people reminding him of how he had blown what could have been a legendary film career.Truly brilliant talent pushed to the extremes of vulnerability and look what you get.

He's very good, and it's not too late for him to have a brilliant career. He's much younger than Clint Eastwood and over a decade younger than Dame Helen Mirren. Ms Mirren is also a perfect example when people, eg on the Maggie Gyllenhaal board, claim that it is bad for an actress's career to do full frontal nudity on screen.

Even with that hair cut, I can't help but be smitten! I am always blown away by how honest and vulnerable Graham comes off.

James Spader is definitely one of my favorite actors, and partly b/c of this role.

How did he blow a promising movie career? Why was that said about him? I've seen him in several great movies and he's been excellent in each.

Holiness is in right action, courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness.

He has a highly distinguished career. Don't waste your pity on him.

I think simply put, he has the unique ability to portray the subtleties of a disturbed individual. His performance really made the movie for me.

James Spader is beyond brilliant in this role. I love how multi-faceted his performance was and what a unique character Graham is, he is vulnerable and gentle, yet strange and apart, open yet repressed; there are so many aspects to the character and he conveyed all of them so credibly. His facial expressions and his voice were also used masterfully.

Such a compelling performance, he definitely made the film what it is.

I still think Raymond Reddington is his true masterpiece, and I can't help but see elements of "young Raymond" here - the boldness, the vulnerability underlying it all. James' performance in this movie is daring and unflinching. I've seen quite a few of his films, but I think this ranks alongside Reddington. Also E. Edward Grey and Alan Shore, of course, are triumphs of his acting career. He's a very daring actor - he gives so much of himself to his roles.

And my, is he lovely with all that luscious hair here!!
