Emmy-Worthy Performance?
If you could give an Emmy to one actress for her work in this landmark TV- movie, which one would it be? I'd have to go with Olivia Cole...I thought she was breathtaking here.

shareOprah Winfrey should win for her role as Mattie Michael. She was very compelling.
Olivia Cole did a great job too. As a matter of fact, she reminds me of my neighbor that lives down the street.
Lynn Whitfield did a excellent job bringing out the emotions from her losses... outstanding performance! Definitely Emmy!!! Cicely Tyson...always Emmy!!!
yeah my nom goes to lynn whitfield

I agree with "jashua121".
IMO Mrs. Tyson and Mrs. Whitfield's performances were certainly Emmy Award worthy. I watch this movie all the time and I just LOVE the scene between Ms.Tyson and Robin Givens especially. And I love the scene between Matti(Oprah) and Celia(Lynn Whitfield) when Celia is devastated over the loss of her daughter and she's lying in the bed in shock. Whew! The scene certainly makes me cry especially when Celia says that she had to live for her daughter and her daughter was all she had.
Paula Kelly was the only cast member to receive an Emmy nomination. She was good, but my favorite was Olivia Cole. She always gives a great performance

I was also going to mention Jackee p_j5280, all of the actresses did a great job, but since she is known as a comedic actress I think she should at least be considered. She was great. They were all phenomenal from what I remember but Lynn also stood out to me. She is just consistently fantastic and underrated.
Hey tell me, is it stalking if I follow her like all the way home without her knowing?
Lonette McKee. "Beige bras and oatmeal." She was brilliant, as were Olivia Cole, Cicely Tyson, Lynn Whitfield, and Paula Kelly. As I've mentioned in another thread, I've read the novel and I feel the mini-series does it justice. The Women of Brewster Place is one of my favorite stories.
I thought Lynn Whitfield, Jackee, and Olvia Cole all gave Emmy worthy performances.

shareThe all delivered exceptional performances, but I'd have to go with Lynn Whitfield and Cicely Tyson!
