so much better than the remake

it was creepy on a deeper level - the remake was overdone and when i saw it in the theater there were a bunch of immature idiots screaming and ruining it for everyone

I agree. Far better than the remake, and creepier than the theater as you are more likely to be on your own!

Nope. Not watching both back-to-back for the first time. Maybe if you saw this one back in the 80s or 90s you'd be more partial to it, but otherwise it's hard to see how this one is "so much better."

I actually agree with you. I have seen the remake twice before but just watched this for the first time today. Although I almost always prefer the original, I must say this is one of the very rare cases where the remake is better. I think in the remake, more was going on with the story and characters so it was more interesting.

The remake was garbage, just lame jump scare fare with a shitty soundtrack.

Much better and scarier than remake. Great, creepy soundtrack. The main problem with remake is that it's boring and full of shitty jump scares.

reply

Too true.

The remake has a few good things going for it, i.e. a good gothic feel and atmosphere, but cheap jump scares just don't cut with me. It felt lazy and uninspired and that's a cardinal sin when you have good source material to work with.
