Question about the ending?

Am I right in thinking the mother just pretty much gave up custody of Jimmy so he can live with his brothers and father under the custody of Sam Woods. She clearly wanted to get rid of him at the start of the film and shoot, her new husband seemed more interested in the kid than she did but more as a casual observer. Also it seems like Haley goes home with the Woods family. Do they get to keep her as well? It seems like it might be a better environment. I want to see where the characters are at now. I am however contemplating if this film will get a Michael Bay remake but the thought of the film being turned into a Pokemonesque anime series is also intriguing.

It doesn't seem like you're serious especially with the last part about a Michael Bay remake, but anyway I'll give a serious answer.

I don't think the mother gave up custody. I think she might have allowed them to spend more time together though.

As for Haley, she's not an orphan (unless she lied about her father being alive as was speculated in another thread), so I don't see how they could "keep her."

I think she may spend more time with them since her father seems to be on the road a lot, but will get back home when he comes back.

Say what? Why would you think that? Most likely Jimmy goes to a home where he can actually get the help he so desperately needs. BUT, the parents do seem to be on much better terms. So the brothers are more likely to be able to see each other now than when they were bitter at the beginning of the movie.

She doesn't want to get rid of Jimmy. Jimmy is horribly psychologically damaged and NEEDS help. Putting him into the home was the best chance Jimmy had to actually get help. Nothing that happened in the movie changes that. He isn't over it when the movie ends.

More than likely (99% sure on my end,)that Jimmy stayed with his mom, but her and Sam's inner feud is over-with. They both forgive each other for what happened to Jennifer and the whole journey helped them realize that they needed to come together instead of fall apart.

So more than likely Jimmy went back to another home but they could actually treat him this time and he would start to get better. He was already on the way by the end of being sociable again which was a huge plus. He let go of his demons in regards to California so I think he would be out of the spot in regards to that. Eventually he would have been fine if he had enough help.

As for Corey, Nick, and Sam the mom probably gave them more time together especially for Sam and Corey's sake. Split custody more than likely once Jimmy was getting better.

Haley on the other hand is a whole other story. We were never told her true backstory. We started to get there but the climax got in the way we never fully heard it. We know her mom for sure was dead. She was a gambling addict and possibly a prostitute or a junkie. Her dad was supposed to be a trucker and he is never there and they live in that trailer park. Here's where things get crazy:

It's possible her "dad" doesn't even exist. Her dad could have been a dream john that knocked her mom up and left. He could also be a legit trucker that's alive or dead, hence why Spanky is so passionate in defending her. Regardless she is in a rough shape.

She is either hitching a ride back to Reno to get on her feet or is going to stay with the Wood's for a while if not for life with her getting adopted. Regardless she was gonna become a part of their lives which is a + because she didn't have much to begin with.

I don't think so. Jimmy still needs serious psychological help. He still hasn't dealt with the death of his sister by the end of the movie. Which is what lead to him being uncommunicative to begin with.

The parents issues may have been dealt with, but Jimmy is still broken and blames himself for his sisters death. Nothing in the movie dealt with that underlying issue.

Going to California didn't really purge any demons. The trip was just a way for Jimmy to return to the last time his family was actually happy. He hasn't dealt with the death of the sister at all. The trip to Cali was never about his demons, it was about his last memory of his family being happy.

This much I agree with.

I think most of her story is true. The lies she tells are only with regards to how popular she is. Like when she says she has tons of friends. Clearly she's lying. She doesn't seem to have any actual friends anywhere near her own age.

Her dad was supposed to be a trucker and he is never there and they live in that trailer park.

Not even a trailer park. The trailer she lives in is there all on its own. A trailer park is more like a community of trailers together.

He definitely existed and its through her dad that she knew the truckers who help them in the movie. I knew people whose fathers were long haul drivers, and it wasn't unusual for them to be on the road for extended periods of time.

On the podcast we did talk about the lack of resolution to her story, though. That she's just kind of along for the ride at the end of the movie.

She didn't say she had tons of friends HER age, I think her friends are her dad's friends, like Spanky, and look how quick he got the other truckers on the child bounty hunter when she said he'd touched her.

While that's all true, not socializing with ANY other kids her age can be damaging to her psychology. Not to mention her totally unstable home life.

You are trully inane;

1.Just that she let him go back with brothers and fathers does not mean she is renouncing custody, it is just a gesture

2.nope, she did not want to get rid of him, she wanted him cured.

3.his stepdad is the one who wanted to get rid of him but only 'cause he was too much hassle

4.nope, they re just giving Haley a lift home... THEY DONT FCKING HAVE THE RIGHT TO TAKE HER FROM HER FATHER!

5.Her enviroment is good enough! She is not abused, she is independent and strong.

6.MICHALE BAY?!!!!!!!!!

7.POKEMONESQUE ANIME?

YOU ARE SUCH A TROLL
