Looking for a movie, is it Winter People?...

I originally posted this on the INTK board and someone suggested that it is this movie.

Old T-Ford truck crossing shallow rocky river...

I have this image in my head from a movie. I'm sure it came out in the early to mid 80s but it was probably set in the 1920s.

There's an old T-Ford crossing a river then a muddy road that leads to a slightly big cabin. It looked like the cabin was a stones throw from the river because I think the couple that lived in the cabin seen the T-Ford truck crossing the river.

There's a man and woman that live in the cabin. I think the woman had long blonde hair, I'm picturing Kim Basinger and I'm picturing the man looking like Jeff Bridges or Kris Kristofferson.

I think there may have been a couple of men in the truck and they may have been unfriendly.

This is the only thing I can remember.

If anyone can confirm it is this movie it would be most appreciated.

I just watched the movie last night. There is a scene where Kurt Russell is in his little truck with his young daughter trying to cross a shallow, rocky river and it get's stuck.

He then hikes to a cabin which is some distance, but the only person here is a woman by herself with a little baby boy.

What you describe does not sound like this movie.

It's been almost four years: Did you find your answer yet?

Just as a hunch, could it be "A Killing Affair" with Kathy Baker (not quite Kim Basinger, but same initials) and Peter Weller (who sort of looks like a thinner Jeff Bridges)? It's from 1986 and set in rural Virginia in the '40s (but because it's rural, it looks older). Peter Weller is a drifter with a past; Kathy Baker is a widow without hope until he comes along. She does live in a cabin by the river:

Is this it? Regardless, it's a decent movie to seek out -- better than this one, actually.

I just watched your movie here

I don't think it is the movie I was thinking of. The house the couple lived in was in the middle of a muddy woods on a hill and it was a shallow rocky river that the car crossed.

Thanks anyway for your help.

Hey Ugly Bugly! Did Adolf Zitler launch a Zitskrieg across your face?

Sorry that doesn't answer your question, but it's amazing how many movies are online these days!

I don't think this is the answer, but it's not "Nadine" from 1987, is it? That stars Kim Basinger and Jeff Bridges, and it's set in the '50s. I don't think the couple lives in the wood near a river, though. It's a screwball comedy about Kim and Jeff's attempt to capture "compromising" photos that were taken of Kim.
