I did find it available for a brief time on Amazon for under $20 a few years ago. It is still a great movie that gets to me every time I see it.

There's a DVD in the United Kingdom. I don't know how the quality is, but it's there nevertheless. What may be preventing the film from being released on DVD here in the states is that there may be some music licensing issues. There are three licensed songs heard in the film; "Walk Like an Egyptian", "Dancing in the Streets" and "(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want to Be Right".
