Are Sally and Harry meant to be approximately the same age? I haven’t seen this film in quite some time and don’t recall if this is addressed. I love the movie, but Billy Crystal looks like he should be Meg Ryan’s uncle.

Yeah, there's a 13 year age difference there. A little bit of suspension of disbelief is needed. I didn't mind too much because I enjoyed their performances. This is one of the few romantic comedies I could actually tolerate.

Yeah they are supposed to be the exact same age because both of them have just graduated from the university of Chicago and now are moving to New York . Her for a career in journalism and he to graduate school.

Give how many people love the film and don't mind this mismatched pair(age, looks) I guess it doesn't matter.
