If this were remade...

Robert Downey Jr. would make a great Bernie. He looks so much like him.

Ok I was just thinking about this last night as I was going to sleep. Here's my casting choices:

Larry: Shia Lebouf, Rich: Justin Long
OR
Larry: Justin Long, Rich: Jessie Eisenberg
Bernie: Rob Lowe, Charlie Sheen or Michael Emerson
Bernie's Woman: Sofia Vergara
Paulie the hitman: Bill Murray
Gwen: this was difficult - Emma Stone, Hayley Duff, Mila Kunis, Rachael Bilson

I think you hit the nail on the head with Shia Lebouf as Larry, and Justin Long as Rich. Their natural personalities even fit the characters.

Bill Murray as the hitman would be great too!

Emma Stone would be good as Gwen as well.

Not sure about Bernie. The OP mentioned Robert Downey Jr., which would probably be a decent choice.

Thanks!

No...you would HAVE to get Terry Kiser to play the Hitman. :)

I hate IMDB's Signature policy...

Actually, that would be a cool cameo.

Weekend At Bernie's has been on HBO/Cinemax a lot recently, and I still find myself stopping to watch it. A really great and extremely underrated comedy.

Great choices, but it shouldn't be remade.

reply

It shouldn't, but considering the recent spate of remakes it probably will and if they do I have to agree that RDJ would be the perfect choice for Bernie.

I don't think it needs remade, but I could definitely see Robert Downey Jr. and Jesse Eisenberg in this.

I was thinking the same thing.

If they did remake it, make it better. Make it more plausible that someone could be fooled by him being dead and not noticing.
