There's over-the-top, and then there's Nic Cage.

One of the most difficult films I've ever had the misfortune to endure, all because of the performance.

Almost has to be seen to be believed.

I can see that Robert Bierman was pushing the boundaries in trying to make an indelible campy cinematic icon, but you can't just let ol' Nic run amok.

The performance makes the film. Other than that, it is average. This was the first movie that showed how unbelievably talented Nicolas Cage is.

Last film seen: This Is the End - 8/10

OP I think you left out the disregard that I suck cocks in your post. This movie is absolutely hilarious.

You do, child?

Suck it. Cage is awesome in this movie.

Keanu Reeves bad.

Yup, this one`s indeed for the ages - something completely unhinged, utterly unpredictable and insane, so that it inspires more stunned disbelief than actual laughter half the time. And it`s completely f-cking hilarious from top to bottom. Definitely one of the most amazing, thoroughly entertaining comedic performances ever committed to film; a darned shame and injustice Cage didn`t even receive an Oscar nomination for his efforts (the only performance from 1988 I`d call better than his, would be Jeremy Irons in Dead Ringers). Which is to say, it`s actually superior to the dope he played a year earlier in Raising Arizona. Great actor.
