Sign of a poorly written movie.

To get revenge on Uncle Buck, his niece lies to his girlfriend, making it sound like Buck is cheating on her with the crazy neighbor lady. The girlfriend drives over to the house the next day, and at the exact same time the crazy neighbor lady who has actually only met Buck once before barges in and starts hitting on him.

The OP missed the boat on that one. Not saying that this movie was genius but that part wasn't all that badly written.

OP forgot the part where Uncle Buck has the sh^ttiest luck sometimes.

The only scene that bothers me in this movie is when we cut away from Buck meeting with the Vice Principal to the class room with Maize. She tells a story and the teacher shouts "BLASPHEMER!"

reply

Yeah... that part always seemed off to me. The idea that a teacher would holler "blasphemer!" at a student just seemed a little outlandish and silly. It also threw off the rhythm of the scene where Buck chews out the assistant principal. I didn't even realize that scene was there until I bought the DVD - I'd usually watched the movie on TV prior to that, and they always edited it out.

...yeah well that teacher was outlandish and silly lol...did you notice the greasy alfalfa style hairdo and the glasses? total poindexter.

"He must've thought it was white boy day. It ain't white boy day, is it?"

reply

Yeah, but that part was always a little jarring to me. It didn't quite fit with the tone of the rest of the movie. I think that's why they tend to edit it out when it's on TV - that, and the fact that g***amn would have been edited out, making the "blasphemer" line make absolutely no sense.

reply

oh, for sure!

Sign of an unsuccessful troll, you didn't even mention how easily Buck finds his niece walking the streets alone.

reply

I always just suspected that she was walking home and that Buck was going that way and saw her.

Tia probably left minutes before Buck arrived on the scene. After all, Bug was still in the beginning phase of his seduction/rape. I guess he chose the other girl immediately after Tia ran away. So Tia was probably not far away from the party house. It was still possible to find her.

reply

Buck knew A) the location of the party and B) the location of the Russell home. It would be fairly obvious to expect Tia to be walking from A to B, all Buck had to do was drive along the obvious route until he found her.

Now, finding Tia at the makeout spot when she was supposed to be at the cheerleader dinner, that is far more problematic unless Buck knew the area well.

reply

It was also pretty lucky how he just so happened to know where that outdoor party was that he brings the hatchet to earlier in the movie.

reply

Didn't Tia tell him the location of the party, but lie about what she was doing?

reply

I don't know what you think an unbelievable situation is but even if it was, there are no signs to this movie being any thing but awesome. Start to finish this is a classic movie with an awesome cast. Maybe your from a different generation or something but your 100% wrong regardless of you being able to have your own opinion. It's only ashamed that John Candy could't have been around to bless us with his great personality for another 100 years. Go troll somewhere else.
