You know what grinds my gears?

I really don't know why Tia was so angry for most of the film. The worst thing she did was make it look like Buck cheated, and Buck didn't really do anything to her for that to happen; and no, "embarrassing her" doesn't count. Yes, Buck is an oddball, but he means well. If it's because the grandfather I don't think we see died or something, I still don't think this backs her up.

She's a teenager. Teenagers are often like that. Not really complicated.

I wasn't generally like that when I was that age.

Even for 1989 she was almost criminal. The worst part of this good funny movie was how insane & stupid her character was written.

She was acting tough to Buck. Almost immediately after Tia spoke Chanice on the phone, you could tell Tia had doubts/regrets over her act.

Yeah she finished strong at the end to become a real human.

Plus, Buck actually gave Tia the attention Bob and Cindy seldom gave her.

If I remember right, she was pissy that they moved so her mother could advance her career (I could be wrong)
Add to that, they bring in this stranger-relative to watch them when she's supposedly capable of doing so herself- even to the point of serving the kids cereal rather than Buck's 'garbage".

She was just feeling insignificant and unimportant and so she lashed out in an attention-grab.
