This movie = Masterpiece

nuff said. This movie can rival Airplane in terms of quotable lines.

I know it's not for everyone, as someone else on these boards said "you either get it or you don't," and I agree.

Well, I've got news for you pal, you ain't leadin' but two things: Jack and sh*t and Jack left town

It's a great satirical commentary on what passes for television entertainment today as well. As tv shows gradually retain less and less substance, they paradoxically capture a greater number of viewers and ratings : cheap sensationalism = greater ratings.

UHF is an awesome movie. Now I have to go to Spatula City to pick something up. "What better way to say "I love you" than with a gift of a spatula."

Besides all the jokes, humor, skits and 'being funny', this movie is mostly FUN.

It's like 'fun in a movie form', the manifestation of fun itself, almost.

UHF is definitely the most fun movie I know, regardless of how funny it is (though I have to admit, it's extremely funny as well).

It makes it easier to swallow all the injected romance and the misandry that is found in almost every single movie in this world. I wouldn't call this a masterpiece, but it's FUN in a way that doesn't seem to be possible anymore.

It's colorful, energetic, extremely silly in a humorous way, it's goofy, wacky, funny, cheesy, and over the top - and yet, it's not 'edgy', it's not 'gloomy' or 'dark' or 'depressing' - but still, it's not quite 'campy', either.

Modern movies can't seem to reach this style these days.. I can't think of another comedy that would be this much pure fun. There's always some 'serious' side or 'agenda' or 'trying too hard to be funny', or another 'safe' way to try to lure audience (big names, formulaic plot, copy of what gave more profit before, etc.'), so the profits are maximised.

This movie is interesting, because it also has a lot of heart and soul to it, and the viewer is really invited to become invested in the story as well. The viewer cares about what happens to the TV station, George, and Kram.. Spadowski, was it?

Quite an achievement to have this much charm and humor, to make viewer really care deeply, while still being this much fun.

Hm.. maybe it IS a masterpiece.

It's a classic 1980s staple. So fun. So 80s.
