Seinfeld premonition?

Michael Richards plays opposite a character named George Newman in this film and opposite a character named George and a character named Newman in Seinfeld.

That's a crazy coincidence. Here's another comparison: Both UHF and Seinfeld are hilarious!!

reply

Yeah. What are the odds!

reply

Actually, Stanley Spadowski is sort of like Kramer...think about it.

Furthermore, taken from the UHF Wikipedia Article:
"A series of scenes depicting a receptionist named Elaine, who worked with Teri. Yankovic mentions on the commentary that the actress was never informed her scenes were removed until after the movie was released, which he still regrets."

reply

Wow. Good catch! I heard the commentary but I didn't catch that the name of the receptionist at the dentist office was Elaine. Kudos for that.

reply

Of course, they're alike. Kramer/Spadowski is the only character he can do.

A man of few words.

A couple. A few would constitute more than two. Of course now with post I've already advanced to jabberjaw.

Actually you posted one word at a time so not even a couple. "A man of one word." hehe

The first time I ever saw a Seinfeld episode, I yelled to my cousin: "HEY! IT'S GOT STANLEY SPADOWSKI IN IT!!!"

reply

I agree. I always thought the character of Kramer was essentially Stanley Spadowski.

"These go to eleven."

reply

That was the first thing that got me hooked, when I watched Seinfeld. "Hey, it's our beloved Stanley! Yay!!"

I saw him as 'Stanley' for a really long time, until Kramer started being more fleshed-out character.

Of course, Seinfeld is the funniest comedy show I know of, and it doesn't even have injected romance or that much political correctness - although it does have its share of misandry, it's surprisingly truthful about relationships and female nature.

I don't think some of its misandry would be approved if genders were reversed, however. Elaine says "I'm not a lesbian - I hate men, but I am not a lesbian".

Just think if Seinfeld said "I'm not gay - I hate women, but I am not gay".

In any case, I really liked the Stanley character, it was funny - so it was really cool to see it continue in Seinfeld, until it was totally changed into something different.

It's odd to realize that Michael was around 40 years old when he played Stanley - and throughout Seinfeld, he was from 40 to 50 years old!

And in less than a couple of years, Michael will be in his seventies. He was really weird in that 1968 dating show - it was odd to see him as something so young, and to realize he was on TV even in the sixties.

Very interesting!
