Favorite moment

Ok, UHF fans, let's get this party rolling. We all know that UHF is the best and funniest movie ever made, but what is it that makes it so funny? Post your favorite moment, one that adds to the comic gold of this classic.

My favourite moment? Difficult to say, there were a lot of these. But here are a few:

- "He's back. And this time, he's mad - GHANDI II!"
- Hey kids, where do you wanna go? That's right, to Uncle Nutseys clubhouse. Amd boy oh boy, we're gonna have big fujn today. We're gonna have so much fun. We'll forget about how miserable we are and how life much sucks, and how we're all gonna grow old and die someday.
- "My, where did you get that lovely spatula?!"

"Birds don't crawl."
- Turanga Leela

"Wouldja look at this? Just caaaaaall me Mr. Butterfingers! I think it's on the floor, somewhere. (sigh) Is my face red?

The first time I saw the Emo Phillips sequence I laughed so hard I nearly hyperventilated. I've seen this movie dozens of times and I still can't watch that scene without falling to pieces.

"Tired of sloppy, cut-rate funerals?"

Raoul's Wild Kingdom! ("Turtles are nature's suction cup! Watch!")

Stanley pondering whether going at the speed of light and screaming would blow up somebody's brain.

"Gun control is for wimps and commies. Listen, let's get one thing straight. Guns don't kill people. I do!"

Dad: What would our founder say if he were alive today?
Son: Help! Help! I'm trapped in this box and can't get out!

and so many, many more.

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!

its only for a quick second during the pledge drive where they cut to what looks like two hillbilly brothers w/ big wide eyes - making weird noises.

UhWaWaWaWaUh UhWaWaWaWaUh UhWaWaWaWaUh....

its such a small part in the movie, it lasts all of about 5 second. but it absolutely cracks me up any time im lucky enough to see it. which isnt often.

reply

I love those idiots too. :)

reply

In the commentary of the DVD, Al said they were called the Kipper Kids. In the deleted scenes, it showed more of their song, something about smashing umbrellas. Pretty weird.

reply

Easily NOT the greatest comedy but the Rambo spoof is one of the funniest moments in movie history. Gets me everytime.

2006: 5)The Departed,4)Apocolypto, 3)Little Miss Sunshine, 2) The Illusionist, 1)Children of Men

reply

"DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUUUH! HEY WHAT'S THE MATTER?! DON'T YOU GUYS LIKE BONANZA?!"

"Hey guys! My blindfold fell off and- WHOA! MY SHIRT GLOWS IN THE DARK!"

reply

I saw this on UPN about two months ago on a Saturday and it brought back memories of when me and my cousin went and saw it in the theater. Watching it again was just as funny. My fave was the Dire Straits' "MOney For Nothng" video spoof retitled "The Ballad Of Jed Clampett" as Weird Al fell asleep watching a rerun. I wish I had recorded the lyrics but it was something like "Lemme tell you...a little story...a little story 'bout a man named Jed..." Too cool.

I have several
1.I'm a fan of starwars so.. i loved it when Stanley used his mop as a lightsaber
2.Wheel Of Fish
3.Any scene with Kuni
4.When George accidentally ate Yappy's Dog Treats
5. Stanley spinning the action figure around
6. Flying poodles
7.Raul, and his show (turtle's are natures suction cups)
8. Everything else

"I don't know!" - Lucy Pevensie
I live by her words!

reply

From a ridiculously long list, I always found two especially funny.

5. Stanley spinning the action figure around

And the frying pan in the clown face scene, also including the clown's reaction afterwards.

Don't breathe air. Birds *beep* in it!

All i have to say

you lucky, lucky, lucky boy- you found the marble in the oatmeal! That means you get to drink from the FIREHOSE!!

reply

Amen :D

Frying pan, dog treats, and "Shut up, you little weasel."

My favorite moment is when George is getting the station signed over by Harvey and as soon as Harvey signs it and George yells out "We did it the STATION'S OURS!" and the music and everything. It's a great scene.

The "Network" parody with Michael Richards... "THESE FLOORS ARE DIRTY AS HELL AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE!"

And who else could forget "Oh, Joel Miller you found the marble in the oatmeal. You're a very, very, very lucky boy, you know why? You get to drink from... THE FIRE HOSE!"

EDIT: Wait, I forgot my favorite part of Raul's Wild Kingdom, which isn't the poodle flying but when they're watching it and Bob says "Where did you find this guy?" and George says "Me? I thought you hired him" and then they look at each other confused then look back at the TV with a shocked look. I just love the implication that no one knows where he came from and how the hell did he get on their channel in the first place?

Dragonzord! Mastodon! Pterodactyl! Triceratops! Saber Toothed Tiger! Tyrannosaurus!

reply

The whole Rambo bit had me on the floor...every second of it. His ridiculous muscle suit that looks like it's covered in vegetable oil, how he chews the bullet up and spits it back out, and how he "rescues" Stanley Spadowski from a cell that he easily could have opened himself..hahaha.

Ah, Conan the Librarian, as well.

reply

Ahhh...Red Snappah. Vewy Tasty.

There are parts of this movie that I constantly quote (and have gotten my husband to quote as well).

First is: "Spatula City!" (the echoing intro)
Second is: "I'm thinking of something orange, something ORANGE! Give up? It's an orange!"
Third is: "Supplies!!" (when the Asian dudes jump out of the supply closet.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice. Henry Laws (1916-1993)

reply

I dont have the exact quote.. but it's Stanley Spadowski exclaiming something like, "You get to drink from the fire hose!!!!" Then the kid is blown over and off whatever he was sitting on by the pressure of the water. Hilarious.

Oh, and "Badgers? We don't need no stinking badgers."

Almost forgot Weird Al's homage to "The Shining"..."redrum, redrum."

reply

Ghandi 2 completely floored me when I first saw it. "No more Mr. Peaceful Resistant! He's out to kick some butt!"

Also the blond kid on the bleachers and Weird Al as the kiddies host.
-"And what is your name?"
-"Billy"
-"Billy what?"
Billy spits a monster snot on the tip of Weird Al's nose. It dangles. The kid actor is barely able to keep it together. He almost cracks up.

Also Conan The Librarian. "This books are a little overdue, heh" Conan splits the guy in half with his big ass sword.

reply

In the beginning Indiana Jones parody when the one guy sees the sign and says "Senor we must go no further, LOOK! Cetain death for anyone who enters, we must turn back, NOW!" Then he turns around and get plowed by a train right outside the cave. It's just so random I crack up every time.

reply

"There gonna throw me out like old moldey tangerines!" lmao

reply

"Shut up you little weasel!" and the whole Spatula City sequence

this is the best movie in the history of mankind

reply

I always laugh hysterically whenever I see Al put the chihuahua in the punch bowl! *giggles*
Then I love "SUPPLIES!!"
Anything with Emo!
All the UHF commercials, especially Conan.
Anything with Raul. "Ah Gigi!" *arf arf arf arf THUMP* "Awwww man!"
"You get to drink from the FIREHOSE! You ready? Open wide!"
The blind guy and the bum with the Rubick's cube was toooo much!

I just love the whole friggin movie it's sooooo funny. Now with the commentary it's even better!

One of my favorite moments comes from RJ Fletcher.
He's in his office talking with his cronies when this dude with a crazy looking cowboy hat and a moustache walks in for a second. I forget what he tells RJ, but it always cracks me up when RJ looks at the dude and says:

RJ
Take that silly thing off!

And then the dude peels off his moustache. Funny as hell.

Of course I love the the fire hose scene; that's still hilarious.

There's a fine line between clever and stupid, really.

They work for weeks and weeks building these intricate tunnles, and they hate it when you do this. (grabs ant farm and shakes it) ooh look! there really mad now!

And the whole teaching poodles how to fly, you know because sometimes it takes them a little longer to learn how to do it right.

reply

'ONLY A MOP! ITS MY LIFE!! WE'VE NEVER BEEN APART!!!!'

(whilst shaking George like a ragdoll)

reply

YOU FOUND THE MARBLE IN THE OATMEAL!!!

And the rest of that scene, in fact.

reply

hahah my favorite scene is when emo phillips (I think thats his name?) cuts off his finger on the table saw! hahhah pure genius thats what it is. and I love the face that he gives when hes trying to remember the name and then weird al tells him its a table saw! hahahaha
and then "oh well..would you LOOK at that? do you believe this?! is my face red? well call me mr. butterfingers!"

Congratulations, Mr. Simms. You are the fattest boy in camp.

reply

This is one of my favorite comedies and it's so hard to pick just oen part because the whole movie is hilarious but I'd have to say anything with Stanley were my favorite parts. I am a long time "Weird Al" fan and he was very funny is the movie as well but I think Michael Richards stole the show.

You know the enemy of my enemy is often considered my friend.

Having UHF finally released on DVD!!!

reply

So many good parts, but here are 2 of my favs:
R.J. Fletcher: If you took their combined I.Q., and multiplied it by a hundred, you might have enough intelligence to tie your shoe, if you didn't drool all over yourself first!
Stanley Spadowski: Life is like a mop. Sometimes life gets full of dirt and crud and hairballs and things and you gotta clean it out. You gotta stick it in here and rinse it off and start all over again. And sometimes life sticks to the floor so much that a mop, a mop, it's not good enough. You gotta get down there with like a toothbrush, you know, and you gotta really scrub 'cause you gotta get it off. But if that doesn't work, you can't give up. You gotta stand right up. You gotta run to a window and say, "These floors are dirty as hell, and I'm not gonna take it any more!"

reply

It's hard for me to say which one is my favorite, since there are so many funny/silly moments... But, I will have to go with the guy with the tablesaw... That just makes me crack up every time.

"Would you look at that?! Just call me Mr. Butterfingers.... Is my face red?"

the Whole Uncle Nutsey sequence, and town talk as well.
"ROADMAPS!"
"STUPID! You're so STUPID!"
"Badgers? We don't need no stinking badgers!"
i never even caught the Supplies gag when i was watching it, but now that's one of my favorites.

reply

"Lesbian-nazi-hookers kidnapped by space aliens and forced on weight-loss programs... on the next Town Talk"

reply

Cause you know? Life is like a mop. And sometimes life gets full of dirt and crud and hairballs and things, and you gotta clean it out. You got to stick in here and rinse it off and start all over. And sometimes you need to get down on your knees with a toothbrush and really scrub cause you gotta get it off! you gotta get it off! And if that doesn't work, you gotta stand up, run to your nearest window and yell...

HEY!! THESE FLOORS ARE DIRTY AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANY LONGER!

"My, where did you get that lovely spatula?"
