Anyone else remember watching this as a child and Hooch DOESN'T die?

I have found a few people who hadn't seen this since we were kids, remember this movie a little differently. I saw it yesterday for the first time in probably 15 years and I was surprised that Hooch died. I always remembered the film as the vet fixed him up and then there's a happy ending with him and the Collie having their puppies.
My sister thought the same when she was watching and so does a friend of mine. It's like we have all created this happy ending and repressed the memory of the real ending. I thought it was funny and wonder if anyone else has had the same thing?

You may be thinking about the ending of the film K9 - the German Shepherd Jerry Lee gets shot under similar circumstances, but survives. I hated the end of Turner And Hooch - I really think that he should not have been killed - it rather ruined it for me, unfortunately. Knowing how sad the ending is, I don't like watching it.

Oh no, my brother and I watched this movie ALL the time as kids and we always hated that part at the end where Hooch dies, and for us it was kind of like a hollow victory that he has pups to continue on his legacy because it's still not the real thing.

And I remember a version of Splash when he turns into a mermaid.

Same, but just as was said. We're probably mixing up together similar dog movies in our minds.
