to any Finnish person, please tell me about the book.

The book she got as a present, which was added to the collection ..

Can anyone tell me anything about it? I saw that the author - or title were the same/simular to her other books (for example, in a British book, the main lettering could be saying either 'Ian Rankin', or 'Rebus' as the biggest lettering).

I felt that a Finnish person would recognise at least what sort of book it was, and this may tell us something about the Mother and her feelings towards her daughter. (We know it comes just from mother, not both of the parents.)

I wondered, just for an example, if it was the Finnish equivelent to, say,a Mills & Boone, or a Barbara Cartland book, which would tell us the Mother feels as love starved as Iris, as was reaching out to her.. Iris then just puts it away, knowing that the book is trash and has no relevance to her desolation.

The book is Angélique och Piraten (1963), Original Angélique se révolte (1961) its Swedish translation.

Not sure where you got "Ian Rankin"? The scene I'm thinking of happened at aprox. 27 minutes.

It's just another book in the series as someone commented in another thread. Her mother probably got one of those every year.
