Another Soundtrack Comment

I started a new thread here because I didn't want to be the "Debbie Downer" on someone else's post.

This has nothing to do with the Hendrix/Reed and other borrowed music, but with some of the theme and incidental music.

About halfway through the movie, the background music just becomes outstanding, appropriate to the tension and mood, dark, deep, sparse and wonderful - like a good update of some 'film noir' motifs.

But when I read about how great the entire theme was on other posts, I had to laugh. I first saw this in 2016, and the opening theme definitely betrayed the age of the film; even as a little forebearance might be required when seeing a youthful Robert Downey Jr., the theme almost implied an early '80's T.V. cop show.

This was followed by some flighty interjections that sounded like some original "Ghostbusters" backdrop, which, unfortunately, was reprised later, sandwiched between the good stuff here and there.

Fully aware that you have to cut some slack on this for a 27-year old film, it doesn't make me wince any less, especially considering the contrast of styles within the same flick.
