More than adequate

I found a cheap VHS tape of this movie in the clearance bin and thought I'd take a chance and spring for the $1.95. I'm happy to say it was a bargain at twice the price. It's a good sendup of Hollywood's stupidity -- not that Hollywood doesn't do a good enough sendup on its own.

The scene recalling the sentimental film about young Adolf Hitler reminded me of "The Producers." When asked who chopped down the linden tree, he replies, "I cannot tell a lie. The Jews did it!"

Looks like we'll never see a legit release of this quasi-classic that pretty much nobody ever saw. I saw this at the American Film Market back in the day and laffed a lot, especially the riff on the Three Stooges. It's more hit than miss; well worth a look. If anyone has a copy on VHS, please do us all a favor and make it available for others to enjoy.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers this!

I believe I have "Get Crazy" on VHS ... somewhere ... I hope. I'm pretty sure I had it at one point, at least. I love those '80s chestnuts.

I regret that I have never seen "Wacko," or even heard of it until you mentioned it. It sounds like a film I would love regardless of whether the jokes are funny – and if they're not, I might love it even more for the corniness of it.

I may have spoken too soon about "Get Crazy." I'm not finding the VHS anywhere in my collection, and if I indeed had it I'd probably have a better memory of it. I definitely have the soundtrack on vinyl, though.

Those films remind me of some of the madcap rock 'n' roll flicks of the '80s like "Roadie," "Tapeheads" and "Weird Al" Yankovic's "UHF." Those films were less obscure but just as nutty.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately those trailers do not ring a bell, but I must seek them out, especially "Get Crazy." The Paul Bartel films are wonderfully warped as well.

It's not quite in the same league because the comedy is unintentional, but have you seen "The Apple"? It's notorious as a "bad" film, but I think it's delightful:
