Blu-ray release 6 November 2015

A digitally restored version of Talvisota will be released on Blu-ray in Germany on 6 November 2015. There are two editions available: international 125 min version and the original 197 min theatrical cut. This is a German release, but the Blu-ray will also include English subtitles.

I've ordered this from Amazon.de (Amazon.de now has optional English interface).

There are two versions available; the standard theatrical release and the extended directors cut special edition (not the entire TV series version). I have both versions.

I can confirm that both versions are all-region discs and have English subtitles. This is a great upgrade from the DVD version (I think I have every version out there).

I highly recommend anyone with an interest in war films watch this, it's a highly underrated movie about a little known series of battles. Both the battles and the movie are epic.

Unfortunately the 4-hour miniseries version still hasn't been released outside Finland. It's even better than Director's Cut.

Absolutely. I have the Finnish DVD release of the TV Series. Unfortunately I don't speak Finnish so much of the new content is lost on me unless it's visually obvious what's happening in the conversation. My other issue with the TV series release is the relatively poor quality of transfer and lack of any picture quality restoration. I really hope this is given a proper release one day, preferably for international and Finnish audiences.

It really is hard to believe such a small army could effectively match the might of such overwhelmingly huge offensive force. Russia paid quite a price for their bad tactics and poorly trained (often intoxicated) military.
