I'm confused about the ending. What exactly did they do to Chance? Why was Heavenly crying? Was it because of what they did to Chance? Or no? Please and thanks.

It's more clear (though off stage) in the play, but they literally castrate him (in the first movie version they just break his nose so his dreams of an actyor are gone and he takes off for a Hollywood Happy Ending with Heavenly)
