Why didn't they pick someone younger and prettier to play Carol?

Seriously, Meg Foster is too old and not too attractive in this movie. Why didn't they find someone younger and hotter to play Carol?

I agree 100% with you. I never saw the third one, but I really enjoyed 1 and 2,however I felt like in both of them they could of cast hotter actresses to play the mom.

i don't care much that she's perhaps not the prettiest, but holy crap her eyes, she looks like a demon with those weird eyes :P

I think Meg Foster was the perfect choice. The whole point of what he did was to not go after the youngest, prettiest girls. He went after vulnerable women who were insecure.

I think you simply lost the intent of the film.

Spot on. It made the movie all the more credible to have a typical mom type cast in the role.

You guys are crazy. I think Meg Foster is pretty and attractive in this. Her pale eyes, thick red hair, and soft, lilting voice all make her rather enchanting. Granted, she is middle-aged and not curvaceous, big-breasted, or blonde, but it would seem out of character for a conservative family man to go after someone like that.

I thought Meg Foster was quite beautiful actually. She was intriguing, her eyes are so beautiful. Her body was nice too, *pleasantly flawed*.
All the women were pretty, but none were Playboy centerfolds and I don't think Jerry was interested in women like that.
He wanted attractive women yes, but ones that 'looked like good wives/mothers'.

I've always found Meg Foster attractive. Her eyes are just amazing. She and Ray Liotta should have gotten together. Spot on casting, and I liked her in the film. She played the role perfectly and had a nice chemistry with the man, The Legend, Terry O'Quinn.

I love to love my Lisa.

Kay Lenz and Season Hubley were also considered for the role of Carol. Ironically, Hubley wound up getting the female lead in the third Stepfather movie.

I thought Priscilla Barnes was the lead in Stepfather III?

The role called for a 40-ish single mother type, and Meg Foster (who was around 40 at the time and certainly not unattractive IMO) brought true grace and dignity to it. A younger model type almost certainly wouldn't have done it justice. I thought she was one of the best things about the film
