Shelby's haircut

Did anyone else like Shelby's haircut? I think it really brightened her face and made her cheeks look rosy.

reply

I hated it. I thought her long hair was beautiful. With that haircut, she looked like just another suburban matron instead of a gorgeous, glowing young woman.

I thought it looked really cute and elfin, it suited her face. But i do love Julia Roberts hair long too.

reply

She looked exactly as she did when she (Julia Roberts) played Peter Pan.

reply

Julia Roberts did have her hair cut for Hook. That's why she's not shown at Jack Jr.'s birthday party as that scene was shot after she'd had it cut but was chronologically before in the film to let us know how much time had passed.

It was an awful style for her, but I guess it was the late 80's and these things happen.

reply

Actually, Julia Roberts played Tinkerbell in Hook, not Peter Pan. ...Unless I'm missing something. But her haircut in this movie was the haircut she had in Hook.

Did she really get a hair-cut? It kinda looks like a wig. Also, it appears she has the same hairstyle in the movie Hook. I wondering, did she get the hair cut because she was filming Hook around that time? I've always wondered that because the hair cut has nothing to do with the story.

Dead Men Tell No Tales.

reply

No, Hook was later.

The short hair was definitely a wig. And after looking at the movie recently, I think her longer style (especially the wedding hair) was a wig as well. The Christmas portion was the only time her hair looked real.

reply

It was a wig ... Darryl Hannah's hair was also a wig, and of course
Dolly Parton wears nothing BUT wigs...

reply

I like her hair longer

reply

Yes...the DVD commentary says it was a wig. I didn't like it either!

reply

Thought it was ugly as sin. Loved the long hair.

"Well!!! Since when did you become the physical type?"

I thought it was cute after the 'first day'. In the parlor it looked too stiff and 'old-ladyish' to me.
Her long hair, which was later revealed in real life to be generously helped with extensions, looked better though.

What I never understood was why she went so severe. Why not trim it to or just above your shoulders? That's not a hard hairdo to maintain.

I thought the reason why she cut her hair so short was because of the operation since she was going in the very next day. She put it off until the last moment because she didn't want to do it- her reaction to it after seeing herself in the mirror seemed to explain everything. Then she had the manicure to make herself feel better.

reply

I agree that she got is cut short because of the surgery. I've had surgeries where I've been in the hospital for a week or more and I can tell you, if you're not mobile, getting your hair washed and even taking a shower is a least of anyone's concern in the hospital. I try to have it cut (never that short though) as it's easier to deal with.

In general, I never like short hair on women, especially little girls. It's not feminine in my opinion.

reply

It looked okay when it was still wet, but it was too bushy on top when she looked in the mirror.

reply

It looked horrible. .I hope it was a wig

reply

to me it was obviously a wig

reply

I agree with you on women with short hair. Short hair doesn't look good on all women. I wouldn't look good with hair that short. I don't like the bowl cuts some little girls have. What was my mom smoking when she decided to cut my hair like a bowl.

reply

Her haircut was most assuredly an extremely bad wig, reminiscent of Jodie Foster's in The Accused. In fact in could be the same wig, just colored.... Just awful.

I agree flatlux why not just go above the shoulders. A simple blow out at Truvy's will last you several days, if not a week. It seems that awful wig style would be much more work to attempt to look good, which it never did.

It looked like Justin Bieber's hair when he first started out. LOL
