Questionable Humor

I came to believe Star Trek was going down hill with this movie for many reasons. One was because of some of the humor in it. Like Kirk's joke about beans and whiskey being a "potentially explosive combination", Spock smelling Kirk and agreeing that he could use a shower, and the Klingon ambassador belching right after the Earth ambassador refers to him as "charming."

Really? Is that the kind of humor that has made Star Trek great?

This is not necessarily an excuse, buy I assume that the attempts at "humor" were in there because it was the first film to follow up the widely successful Voyage Home (which was the highest grossing Trek movie of the first ten films), which of course, had a lot of comedy (mostly from the "fish out of water" premise) in it.

It was a play on the fact that they were all old farts .... More offensive was that dance by uhura

The shower "joke" just seemed like Spock being Spock.

DISPLAY thy breasts, my Julia!

I didn't think it was too out of place.
