shareI got in contact with Peter Miller (the composer of the film) and he said that Proyas was thinking about doing a special 'Directors Cut' edition sometime ago, but hasn't done anything since. He now owns the rights so really he has no excuse.

I talked to Mr. Proyas about doing something with this film when he was in post-production on I, ROBOT, i.e. a pretty long time ago. He seemed pleased that I had enjoyed the film enough to bring it up and was especially enthusiastic about the soundtrack, which I also praised highly. At the time he said he might do something with it after finishing work on I, ROBOT but obviously that never happened. It seems strange to me, considering there are always a couple years between his film projects, so I'd think it can't be an issue of just lacking the time to do it. Maybe there are problems finding the actual camera negatives (a must if one intends to do a definitive high-definition release) or maybe there is just no interest from any studios/distributors to handle the film in a way that'd please Mr. Proyas. I doubt he's just sitting on it out of spite!
Anyway, I remain enthusiastic about the movie and would be first in line to buy an official release.
