Why Did They Basically Give Away the Ending At the Beginning?

It was originally meant to be the start of the film - the rest being told like a flashback. Test audience apparently thought it was confusing so the opening credits are instead a foreshadowed dream.

I thought the exact same thing. Would have been way better to save that reveal until much later in the film.
