Diane's Outlandish Outfit
The movie is sad and serious. At the end, when she's wearing the outlandish get-up, though, I couldn't help but laugh. I loved what the detective snarkily said to her.

I wondered that too. It seems I remember reading in the book that the real Diane had a similar outfit on, just like the film.
Perhaps in that state she was allowed to wear her own clothes one last time.
"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."
yes she was dressed like that according to the book..... also, according to the book she got on her back and spread her legs as far apart as she could..to entice that p0oor detective along for the ride.
