Nobody Deserves to Burn in Hell

I've seen several comments that Diane Downs deserves to burn in Hell. I'd like to add my two cents to the effect that nobody deserves that. No sin on earth can cause someone to deserve an eternity of punishment. This is one of the reasons I'm not a Christian.

I disagree with that there are definately people out there who deserve this punishment, so what its okay for there victims to suffer but you don't think the perpetrators should suffer. If you murder someone be they children or adults spending eternity burning in hell would be lite compared to what the families and friends of the victims go through.
And I'm am also not a christian, but I don't think that christianity or any religion for that matter has anything to do with it in this context.
Well that was my two cents anyway.

How can you say an eternity burning in hell is "lite" punishment compared to what the families and friends of murder victims go through. The worst thing a murderer can do is deprive you of life. The worst thing murder can do to families and friends is cause them grief during this short lifetime. Eternity, on the other hand, is far out of proportion to anything we can suffer on earth. I never said bad people shouldn't be punished. But their punishment should be proportional to their misdeeds or sins or whatever. Nobody can do anything that causes eternal suffering so nobody should be punished eternally. Also, people have finite minds so nothing we believe or don't believe should be grounds for where we spend eternity. If someone is "sincerely wrong," I should think hir sincerity in seeking truth, even if unsuccessful, deserves props. A teacher wouldn't punish a student who was trying his best but who got the wrong answer. Why should god be meaner than a teacher? Even people who deliberately misbehave don't deserve to suffer forever.

She didn't just 'misbehave'; she killed one kid and mamed two others for the rest of their lives. She still denies even committing the crime so the part of 'sincerely wrong' doesn't fit here ~ she did it on purpose so she could be with a married man who said he didn't want to be a daddy. So she tried to get rid of her kids. Outrage over this case is normal and um, where does Christianity come in?

I think burning in hell is a bit harsh also, but I think Downs deserves to spend the rest of her life behind bars without the possibility of parole.

kia-1 deserves to burn in hell for what she said... hahahahahahah muaahahahahahahah

You might feel a bit different if a member of your own family is murdered. Who are you to determine what sins deserve which punishment? Your soul and body may be your own, but no one has the right to take anyone else's!

Beautifully said. I have also asked myself if Diane Downs even had a soul. I don't know if sociopaths do. None that I have ever read about or whose stories I have learned ever gave any indication that they had souls. It's clear that they have no conscience, and I don't think you can have one without the other.

I'm guessing the OP never lost someone to murder, and the callousness in which Diane took one life and forever scarred her other children both emotionally and physically for the rest of their lives. I've lost someone close to me and my family. I would never wish that hell on anyone. But, the way she died and it's hard to understand the senselessness of her death. I remember how panicked her parents were when she failed to show up to her parent's house the day before Thanksgiving. They had a family get together. They called my uncle, who was mayor. He put out calls to all law enforcement, the township's sheriff's dept, township police, town police and state police. They found her on the evening of Thanksgiving, stuffed in the trunk of her car, brutally raped and sodomized and her throat slit with a pair of men's underwear in her mouth. My uncle had the misfortune to be the one to tell her parents she had been murdered. The man who murdered her has never been caught. The story ended up on Unsolved Mysteries. I knew her, we played together growing up, we went to the same church and sung in the choir together. Even now just typing this up, I'm crying it's still so painful. She was a beautiful girl, stunningly beautiful and her parents couldn't have an open casket she was that badly abused. I will love to be there to see whoever did this her her rot in hell. NO ONE deserves to die that way, but her killer certainly does.

Of course this woman deserves to suffer for a very, very long time. All because she was so selfish and cruel, one kid is dead, one is disable and one is forever left haunted by the memories of what happened. If she was so desperate to get rid of her kids, she could have just dumped them with social services instead of shooting them. So yes, I can understand why people want her to suffer. I think if those were your kids, you'd feel the same way.

No, I'd rather see her shot by a firing squad, with no blindfold. Exactly how her kids suffered!

reply

Yes - a firing squad.....AT LEAST! I'm not sure but I'm guessing Oregon maybe didn't have the death penalty??? Doesn't shock me. Hasn't the west coast always had idiot liberal views? I say a firing squad that starts sloooooowwwwly, at the feet and then up from there. With a good amount of time in between shots for her to feel agonizing pain. Then, before a heart or head shot....stop shooting, throw her in a cage with some ravenous lions, or a shark infested body of water and let them finish her off in a feeding frenzy.

AND EVEN THEN, it's over much too soon. Her pain would still be nothing compared to the emotional pain she caused others. Further, what about the cost to tax payers having to support that wretched scum in prison for maybe 50 years?!

Finally, true narcissistic sociopaths CANNOT be helped. They lack empathy or emotion. Therefore, they are not human. They are empty robots. It's like that show "Walking Dead" you have to just behead them and completely destroy them. Again, quickly and swiftly! Why should taxpayers pay for them to languish in prison with sometimes better amenities than my first 3 apartments?!😒🙈

I say we start giving people like Dianne Downs to ISIS or some other barbaric terrorist group to have their way with....let THEM behead her....they're good at that.

Okay, I may be about to disturb a hornet's nest here, but I don't care--I'm gonna put MY two cents worth in.
First of all, have you ever had any of your relatives or close friends murdered violently? Do you have any idea of the pain and loss a family suffers when someone they love dies at the hands of someone else? You're making it sound like that Diane Downs's punishment was unjustified, which is a bunch of crap--if anything, it wasn't harsh ENOUGH! She didn't even get life in prison, although one of her daughters died, the other one suffered a stroke and her little boy became paralyzed and was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Not to mention that she showed little to NO emotion while her kids lay in the hospital DYING after the supposed "bushy-haired stranger shot them all and left them for dead". And what about Diane's behavior during her trial?? Talk about a circus performance--and the judge STILL only gave her a short sentence.
It's the biggest bunch of BULL CRAP I've ever heard. To take the life of anyone is unexcusable, unless it's self-defense, but what Diane did to those sweet, innocent children is nothing less then EVIL. She was their mother, she was supposed to protect them, for heaven's sake!!! But instead she decided to end all of their lives over a freakin' MAN. She soooo deserves to be punished by a higher force then law enforcement, that's for DAMN sure. And I PRAY that her day will come soon.
And second of all, just out of curiousity, what does the fact that you're not a Christian have to do with anything? If that's how you choose to live, then more power to ya, that's your business--but it doesn't really illustrate the point you're trying to make. Just thought I'd ask. I do happen to be a Christian, but that doesn't really relate to the subject at hand here, either. In fact, it has nothing to do with it.

Hi Victoria

I used to work with a woman who had the same sort of views as you have - actually, she went quite a lot further and would say things like "oh no, you have to forgive everybody for everything" - now this used to do my head in.

She held this view until one day she arrived into work and said that her son had been mugged on the way home the night before, he was in a bad way. Her view after this? Hang them.

You see, until something happens to you, you have no way to understand what it would be like to be on the receiving end or to be one of the family or friends of somebody who has been killed.

People would have liked Diane Downs to have had some remorse - showing or feeling no remorse is what people detest, it shows absolutely disregard for another. She showed no remorse due to her mental disorders - the whole thing is extremely complex that's for sure.
