Why didn't Fred Hugi.....

and his wife adopt Diane's youngest child Amy as well as Christie and Danny? What ever became of her and what about her surrogate daughter "Jennifer"?

reply

From what I am assuming-because it's been a while since I have seen this movie-the prosecuting attorney and his wife didn't adopt the children until AFTER the trial...and more then likely, the reason the other baby Diane gave birth to was not adopted by this couple is because she was perhaps already put into a home with another family. As far as the surrogate baby--I know that when a family adopts a surrogate baby, there's usually total anonymity involved, for the child's sake and the sake of his/her family..so we may never be sure what kind of life she is living or what ever came of her. I'm sure she's fine, though...and maybe it's good for her to never find out what kind of person her real mother turned out to be!

here is a quote from updates on ann rules website

The baby taken from Diane and put up for a adoption grew up in a happy home with wonderful, loving parents. She was recently featured on 20/20. (She and I met for the first time as the cameras were rolling. See video above.) She is nearly 30, intelligent and well spoken a mother herself.

I also read that the grown Amy decided to try to contact Diane Downs.
She was naturally curious about her birth mother, and so she wrote Diane.
Diane responded & so she went to visit her in prison.

Amy claims that the visits/letters/calls went well at first, just regular chatting.
But then Amy claims that Diane literally 'began writing crazily' to her out of nowhere.
So when Amy told her she wasn't coming anymore, apparently Diane got really upset & furious. Amy was evidently frightened for a long time.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

The child she had in prison, Amy her adoptive parents named her Rebecca, her full name is Rebecca Babcock. She was only told by her adoptive parents that her biological mother was in prison but never told her why or what she did to be there. She knew her name though. Once, while watching the Oprah interview and watching the TV movie did she learn what her biological mother had done. But, finding that she was the product of a child killer sent her into a major identity crisis, and for a while, she led a troubled life. It was during this period she contacted Diane. She realized just how troubled her mother was mentally and cut off all contract. She now has a daughter of her own and turned her life around. She has reached out to her brother and sister but they refused to see or speak with her. It's creepy she looks so much like her mother. Rebecca has been accused of cashing in on her infamous mother.

As for the two surrogate children they're identity are still unknown and I guess their parents want to shield them from the press, publicity and Diane. Diane has said if she's released she's going to look for and be reunited with all of her children, so anonymity is smart. One thing that does bug me, usually surrogates go through psychological exam, she did and failed both times yet she still became a surrogate anyway. I mean, come on. Would you want people to know your biological mother was a narcissistic sociopath named Diane Downs who tried to kill her children?
