Widescreen???
Anyone know of any plans to release a Widescreen Dvd of this? Amazon states that the Region 2 Dvd is Anamorphic widescreen, but it's actually only fullscreen.
shareI've just been trying to work out the same question! Some sites say widescreen (both 2.35:1 & 1.85:1), some say it also has DTS sound, others say Fullscreen!!!! Anyone know the actual spec of this DVD!?
shareI've finally found out. I bought it from HMV, and it's 4:3, with stereo sound. There's no extras, just play option and scene selection. The print's better than a U.S. version I bought a while back and the sounds clear.
This is the only version with the original artwork. Other versions have some of the worst covers I've ever seen.
Looks like we'll have to wait for a widescreen version. If it was ever released on Widescreen Laserdisc, then somebody might have transferred it to Dvd. Might give Ebay a search.
I ended up renting it from LoveFilm... dissappointed it wasn't in its native 2.35:1 ratio.. :-( Atleast the original video release had the opening titles in widescreen!! LOL
I had the film on video back in the early EIV days, and it also came with an extra video which included a 30 minute documentary on the making of the film. I have transferred them both to DVD for safe keeping.
The Japanese Laserdisc from Pioneer LDC actually preserved the original
widescreen format (1.85:1). May be up on ebay sometimes.
