Somebody missing in the cast here....

Not sure if anyone noticed this, but the part towards the end of the film where John Ritter is at the beach-house and just checking out the water and a girl with a dog walks by. That girl has a speaking part therefore should be in the credits. Even though she just said "Hi", I thought she should have been credited. That girl looks a lot like Kelly Lynch (Road House, Cocktail) - I was wondering if anyone noticed this and knows if it's her.

I thought that was Kelly Lynch too.

Hmmm, could be, but not too easy to verify.

However, there are various times talent is not credited in some movies. Two that come to mind are THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAUSEN (Robin Williams as the Baron - significant part!), and DROP DEAD FRED (Bridget Fonda as the girl in the black dress - pictured on the back cover with "Fred" laying on his back on the floor, looking up while his head is between her feet).

In Robin Williams' case, he said he didn't want the movie to be hyped and advertised as a "Robin Williams movie" since it really was not about him. Not too sure about Bridget Fonda, but she may have just been around the set the day they shot that scene, and stepped in what could easily have been an uncredited extra's part; again, no reason to be listed.

Other discussion threads have talked about how the payroll records have been checked to verify *all* the talent is listed in the movie credits, so they may not have accepted/requested a paycheck for such a part. (If already a working S.A.G. member, what would be the 'gain' to have credit in such a minor part?) The 'talent' does accept roles/parts sometimes, just for the fun of doing a project, or working with someone.

Sometimes the circumstances of a movie are such that so many changes are made during the filming that even directors request that their name be REMOVED from the credits because they really had little control over the finished product.

There have been more than a few threads discussing how actress Bai Ling came to be left out of a Star Wars movie, well after the scenes had been filmed. Many of the rumors held that she did a photo shoot for a well known adult entertainment magazine, and other discussions said the sequences were cut due to the length of the movie - both plausible theories.

Sometimes the editing process just takes a LONG time, and instead of cutting something, footage is used to continue or change the tone or tempo of a movie. One of the better know instances of something like that is PRETTY WOMAN. Richard Gere was playing a joke on Julia Roberts by snapping a jewelry case on her fingers, (she laughed a lot), and that footage got put in the movie.

Clear as mud now? And I hadn't mentioned deliberate cameo appearances...
