I just rewatched this tonight for the first time in many years, it was sort of silly but I liked it a lot
They should have bayoneted the dying Cong in that field after the first big fight…save ammo and keep operations quiet…A machete or a chunk of wood is all the Cong deserved
A shoestring would be real fast and quiet as well, depending on your leverage
