I remember the toddler Cpl. Dinardo got. He bonded with him because he reminded him of his deceased son. I hate to think what happened to him after he was taken away.

I always wondered if Dinardo would have legally adopted him.

He was shown after the battle with the enemy officer who apparently was bonding with him as well. I don't think any harm came to him. At least the movie didn't show anything like that.
