The plot synopsis on here is terrible...

Georg and his wife Anna realize how monotonous and isolated their life is when their daughter Eva, in a desperate attempt to get attention, suddenly pretends to be blind. The family decides to break with their trot and plan to emigrate to Australia.

Huh?

Some velvet morning when I'm straight...

I'm all for not giving away stuff, but it's not necessary to lie to do that.. And the thing about blindness doesn't feature very heavily plot-wise, so I dunno why they felt like mentioning it..

Plus, it makes the film sound like something completely else. I love this movie, but the synopsis would probably turn me off of it, if anything.

The plot synopsis is brilliant.

Throughout the movie I always believed that they were going to move to Australia.

When they destroyed everything I thought, ok... they wanna make sure they can't return.

Then when they started flushing the money down the toilet I was like, wait a minute... arent they gonna use that in Australia?

Then slowly I found out that they werent going anywhere....

The plot synopsis is perfect for the movie.

I don't think that reading a fake plot synopsis in necessary to have that experience with the film, though.

Where's my elephant?

Someone posted that the whole family commits suicide whch completely ruined the film for me. The mentioned synopsis is perfect and true to the facts. Just keep in mind this is a Michael Haneke film and you may guess you're up for something uneasy.

Chaos reigns

a more accurate synopsis is

a painfully slow film about everyday life...will be loved by "intellectuals" and "film snobs" overloading it with meaning...save 100 minutes of your life and watch something else as there are far better films out there more deserving

a bad bad film not because of the content (thats minimal and been done far better elsewhere) but simply because its boring
