One of my favorite films of all time

Shirley Valentine is one of my favorite films of all time. I've seen it about 10 times or more. Shirley goes on holiday from a dull obedient housewife, to the Greek isles and finds herself again. It's a true to yourself movie that has moved me very deeply. My goodness, I'd love to move there and stay and give up my life in boring St. Louis or anywhere. The beautiful scenery and sunsets are awe inspiring and would be great for the soul. I not only love the location of this movie, but consider it the closest thing to Heaven on this earth. Shirley performed a spiritual transition there, something I need to do as well as many others captive in their day-to-day lives. LIVE ON SHIRLEY!

Yes....you are so right. I love this film, my ex never understood it or my desire to visit the greek islands. He thought.......I would be "going to Greece for the sex". I have gone to Greece though and NOT for the sex and every time I go, I watch this film before I go. The saddest bit is when she is on the bus and she says " I used to be Shirley Valentine...."

It is a film that has inspired me, more so as I got older. It helps me to know I don't need anyone but myself.

Loved the bit where they were discussing the clitoris and she said " Joe....have you ever heard of the clitoris" and he said " Yeah but it's not as good as the Ford cortina " (or some such car)
